Rick has 30+ years of experience at board level, in global companies in the Telecommunications, Pharmaceutical, Retail, Transport, Health, Aerospace and Government sectors.
He has a long career connecting “things” to a diverse range of secure networks from space to deep in the ocean. The Networks concerned have included Government, Commercial and Private and he has championed the certification and regulation of connected devices for many years. He sits on the British Standards Institute Committees for IoT, Digital Twin and e-Commerce and is pleased to see emerging standards to fulfil those aspirations.
He is currently working with the UCL Institute of Healthcare Engineering on smart technology to support an ageing population.
He led the team that designed and built the first 3G Mobile Internet platform (British Telecom Genie platform which became O2). Subsequently at BT he led Wireless Cities projects and finally took a role at CTIO level responsible for the Cyber security of 720 customer sites Globally.
Product Director of the UK’s largest PC Retail chain and first to introduce Apple Mac.
He gave the keynote speech at the UK’s first conference on Mobile Working.
He judges Global Telecommunications Awards particularly the IoT and Smart City elements.
He has a seat at the UK Regulator Ofcom Stakeholders forum.

A 35-year old European Security and Identity Association who awarded him a lifetime achievement award in 2018. Through this he has been part of many EU FP5, FP6, FP7, H2020, and HorizonEurope projects.
